Another biggie

This top was donated by the DI, the bottom was donated by my mother-in-law and the batting was purchased with the gift card from my Auntie Ve.
I chose to use my serger thread for this one because I really wanted to use red. Normally, I use 100% cotton, this is 100% polyester. I am kind of nervous but think it will work well.
I chose the simple panto that is large scribbles, this one works well for me, it is quick and cute. I loosened the tension a lot and this one was smooth sailing.....

Until the machine started making awful noises. So, I oiled the machine more than normal and the noise went away. On my last row, I started getting needle failure errors on the machine. It would make weird noises and it was kind of scary. I worked on the machine for about an hour! Changing the needle, looking in the bobbin area for jammed threads.I have 10 inches to quilt to get this one finished and I just want it done, then I'll stop, I promise!

This is not good I can not figure it out! I call my mother-in-law down stairs to listen. We both decided the machine needs oil which is weird because Handi Quilter says to put a drop of oil in the bobbin every other bobbin change, which I have done faithfully.
We took the top plate off the machine, oiled on top of the bobbin housing, ran the machine a few stitches with no thread, and wa-la! It worked. I loaded up the thread and the machine finished the quilt beautifully! I'm done!
Here are is everything I did this weekend!
